Magnet School Attendance Policy

TARDIES
Semester 1 (Quarters 1 & 2)

1.    At five tardies, a letter will be sent to the parent of the student.

2.    At ten tardies, a required parent/guardian conference will be held with the principal or assistant principal and the student is placed on attendance probation.

3.    At fifteen tardies, the student’s parent/legal guardian is sent a notification of removal letter from the Magnet School Office indicating an effective withdrawal date and notice to enroll the student in zoned school of attendance.

4.    If student is on attendance probation at the end of semester 1, the recommit form will not be offered for the next year.

Semester 2 (Quarters 3 & 4)

1.    At five tardies, a letter will be sent to the parent of the student.

2.    At ten tardies, a required parent/guardian conference will be held with the principal or assistant principal and the student is placed on attendance probation.

3.    Students on attendance probation may not participate in school activities which are not academically required.

4.    At fifteen tardies, the student’s recommitment is revoked.

ABSENCES

1.    At three unexcused absences*, a letter will be sent to the parent of the student.

2.    At five unexcused absences*, a required parent/guardian conference will be held with the principal or assistant principal and the student is placed on attendance probation.

3.    At seven unexcused absences*, the student’s parent/legal guardian is sent a notification of removal letter from the Magnet School Office indicating an effective withdrawal date and notice to enroll the student in zoned school of attendance.
