Drop Off and Dismissal Traffic Procedures

Morning Drop Off

  • Students may not arrive on campus before 7:30 a.m. unless they are enrolled/signed in for the Extended Day Program. There is no adult supervision until 7:30 a.m. Remember, we do offer morning Extended Day care. Continual violations will result in a request for removal from the magnet program. For safety reasons, it is imperative that students remain under adult supervision at all times.

  • If your student arrives on campus before 7:30 a.m. and you desire to wait with them, you are asked to remain in your car within the carline for drop off at 7:30 a.m. (once the bell sounds).

  • Parents who are dropping off and signing in their children into the Extended Day Program near the gym entrance may need to park in the lot to walk their students into the cafeteria closer to the 7:30 bell. Parents SHOULD NOT drop off Extended Day students AFTER 7:30.

  • At 7:30, (not before and at the sound of the bell) teachers will begin unloading cars.

  • Students are reminded to wait for the whistle to blow and cross in the front of their parent’s car for better driver visibility. After your child exits the car, wait until you hear the whistle and the traffic team signals for you to move. Pull straight forward up through the line. Do not cut out, go around or pass another car for any reason. Parents do NOT park in the carline to come into the school.

  • When students arrive in the morning, they are expected to enter the building at the side nearest the gym, not front doors to report to their assigned grade level areas inside the gym. Parents are not permitted to sit and wait with students during morning drop off or for breakfast.

  • Students who are eating breakfast are asked to line up at the cafeteria door and proceed inside (grades 1 – 5). Pre-K and Kindergarten students will eat breakfast as a class each morning at 7:50.

  • Students who are not eating breakfast are expected to remain in the gym until 7:50 a.m. or when their teacher arrives to pick them up.

  • When dropping students off or picking up, please remember that the entire front entrance to the school is one-way.

    Afternoon Pick Up

  • Day Care Vans and Pre-Kindergarten Parents are the only passenger vehicles that may pick up in the van circle, nearest the school between the hours of 2:30 and 3:20. Students who ride a Day Care Van will be escorted by teachers for dismissal at 2:45 p.m.

  • All cars authorized to pick up your child(ren), should have a school issued pick up hanger visibly hanging from the rear view mirror with the name facing the street.   This is an added measure to help keep our children safe. Additional decals are available in the front office for only $1.00. Two hangers are issued during registration.

  • Cars are to make two lines at the crosswalk and follow the directions of the traffic team.

  • Student names will be called and the teacher will blow the whistle 2 times for students to walk to their cars

  • Parents are asked to remain in their vehicle until you have been pulled forward by the afternoon traffic team. At which time, your child’s name/family name will be called for your child to be assisted to your car. All drivers must remain still and inside of your vehicle.

  • Use a “thumbs up” to let us know that your car is loaded and ready to move. The teacher at the crosswalk will hold up the “green go sign” and the whistle will blow one long time to have parents pull off. Watch carefully!

  • If you must speak with your child’s teacher, please park your car in a designated parking space. Please remember however, that your child’s teacher remains on duty and is responsible for assisting other children to their waiting cars.

  • No texting, talking or using cell phones in the car line and remind students to cross in front of your car if necessary.

  • No loud music or smoking while on campus.
